So I decided to try something that I thought would be fun for everyone. Friends, fans, and DeviantART members, I present to you “TheBoog’s Jewelry Designing Contest.”

The objective of my contest is simple: All you have to do is sketch an original jewelry design of a ring, pendant, or any other type of jewelry and send me a link of the design through a note. When the contest is over I will pick a first place winner, and a runner up.

I will hand fabricate the first place design and send it to the winner as their reward.

Runner up will receive a custom sterling silver pendant or ring with a retail value around $40 or so.

Pretty simple right? Now for the rules:

Only one entry sketch per contestant

Your entry must be original. Any designs that are copyrighted or taken from others will be disqualified.

You must be a member of DeviantART

You don’t have to be a good artist to participate. I will be judging each sketched design based on creativity and originality, not on the participants drawing skills.

You must send me link to your sketch in a note titled “Boog’s Contest”

The deadline will be July 15, 2009

I have the right to make any changes to the winning design that I see are necessary. Here’s an example: if your design calls for a ruby gemstone, I will most likely use garnet instead.

If I find out the first place winner has plagiarized or stolen someone else’s work, they will be disqualified and the runner up will win. I will then pick another piece for the new runner up.

I'd like my contest to have a good turn around. So please feel free to tell your friends and anyone else about my competition. I'd like at least 10 participants. If I don't get that many I might cancel.

On top of all else, the winner of my contest gets the satisfaction of knowing that the piece I make for them is their own original design! In my opinion, that’s truly one of the greatest feelings a designer can have.
