Artist's Comments

This is my entry for the :iconjewelryclub: Nature Inspired Contest. It didn't place, but I received an honorable mention.

My inspiration for this piece came from this beautiful photo: [link] taken by :icontagirocks: It took a while, but after looking at the photo multiple times, and sketching many different designs, the inspiration finally sunk in, and the design you see in the photo above is the outcome :D

The piece is made out of sterling silver sheet and wire, with natural 2 - 2.5 mm sapphires. The oval pendant has a satin finish, and the silver wire is polished. I also polished the area where the waterfall flows over the oval base. I thought it gave it a wet, watery look. Don't you agree?

A lovely design, well executed and the high polished area really does give it a watery look. I can see the water swirling around the sapphires!

lol thank you :) but why yummy? =P

In art school I had a ceramics instructor who would call something he liked yummy. It stuck, so things that I really like but don't know what so say are yummy:D

Awawawaaa, that's so cool, that polished area at the bottom! It already looks like a waterfall, but that extra affect makes it just amazing!
I thinks clear or white stones would have also looked good to go with the water theme. Like the sparkles in the water.
:icontheboog17:
thank you :)

yeah I thought some white stones would look good too. For the same reason. However those blue stones were bigger than I expected and took up to much room. On top of that, I kept running into problems with the stone setting part, and it was taking to long. I didn't want the labor price to rack up, so I just settled for five sapphires. ^^;

well anyway, wish me luck. we'll see how I do this time.

oh I see. Well thanks for the lovely compliment ^^
